ABOUT NIT

Founded by Ines Lončar

NIT is an independent Croatian design studio developing textile art and objects through an ongoing study of material, movement and form.

I’m Ines Lončar, the founder and designer behind NIT. My relationship with textile began long before the studio itself, through the skills and material knowledge passed down by my mother and grandmother. Before NIT, I developed a fashion label centred around embroidery, where textile first became my primary form of expression.

After stepping away from fashion, I returned to material with a different question: not only how textile relates to the body, but how it can alter an object, occupy a wall and change the presence of a space. That shift became NIT.

Today, the studio moves between textile works and functional objects. Fringe changes the silhouette of glass. Wool and silver silk thread build images across linen canvas. Satin and structured textile forms carry movement onto the body and into daily life.

Textile is approached as structure rather than decoration. Each work is developed through proportion, repetition and contrast — balancing softness with precision, and inherited knowledge with a contemporary visual language.

NIT is not a return to tradition, but a continuation of it through objects and textile works created for contemporary interiors.
